MOTOR RACING AT CLOSE QUARTERS
At CHGP, we are both proud and grateful to be summer guests at Bellahøj. In the period leading up to and during the summer's big motorsport weekend, the residents of Bellahøj are at the center of events.
We are very grateful for the trust placed in us, while we want to do our utmost to ensure that the events cause as little inconvenience as possible to local residents.
FAQ - Frequently asked questions
About CHGP
Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix (CHGP) is the flagship of Danish motorsport. CHGP is one of Denmark's largest sporting events at Bellahøj in Copenhagen - with action, drama, speed and entertainment for the whole family.
This is where we celebrate historic race cars and famous racing drivers, especially our Danish icons, but also foreign stars, over an entire weekend in August every year.
It has always been important to us as organizers that the inconvenience we cause our neighbors should be as minimal as possible. Therefore, throughout the year we are in close contact with owners' associations etc. and during the event we have established a hotline that can solve any problems.
Brønshøj Husum Sports Association
Rigshospitalet
In conjunction with CHGP, Race For The Kingdom is a charity event where racing drivers make themselves and their cars available for a good cause. For a fee, the public can take a lap around the track, with all proceeds going to charity.
Since 2010, Race for Riget has raised over DKK 6.5 million, which has primarily been donated to the Children and Youth program at Rigshospitalet, thus making the difficult everyday life of patients and relatives a little easier.

Driving permit
According to the permit from the City of Copenhagen, training and races may be held on the closed track during the following periods:
Friday 17:00 - 21:00
Saturday 08:00 - 20:00
Sunday 08:00 am - 20:00 pm
The race program is adjusted so that any delays do not exceed the above mentioned times. You will find the preliminary race program here when it is published.

Road closures
The road closures are approved together with the Technical and Environmental Administration (TMF) in the City of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Police. Information about this is posted on boards both in the area and on the major entry and exit roads, as well as on the traffic radio.
With regard to accessibility, TMF also notes the following:
"The administration believes that there are reasonable detour options to replace the Frederikssundsvej tunnel in the local area by using Utterslevvej, Frederikssundsvej, Rådvadsvej and Frederiksborgvej, which have the capacity to handle the increased traffic load. As the race is held on a weekend, the administration further assesses that the traffic flow during the event will not differ significantly from normal rush hour traffic, where travel time is extended due to dense traffic and limited congestion."
You'll find an overview of the road closures here when it is ready for 2025.

Cycling routes in connection with CHGP
In connection with CHGP and the road closures around Bellahøj Park, other bicycle routes are recommended as alternatives to Hulgårdsvej and Bellahøj Vej.

How do you do it?
You must apply in person at the CHGP neighboring tent at Bellahøjmarken from Wednesday 6 August 2025 - Thursday 7 August 2025 between 15-19 and Friday 8 August 11-15.
You must bring your yellow health card, which is used when you receive your wristband. The wristband is personal. Wristband and health card belong together and must both be presented at CHGP upon request.
Resident wristbands must be collected before the start of the race.
Wristbands
The BRACELET is put on your wrist at checkout.
The wristband is made of fabric and can withstand washing and showering. Abuse will result in revocation of wristband and expulsion from CHGP.
We look forward to seeing a lot of neighbors at this year's family event at Bellahøj.

Noise nuisance
In 2017, TMF in the City of Copenhagen conducted noise measurements during the construction and dismantling phase of the track and concluded that the noise level is no different from a normal working day. However, it is important for us as organizers to further minimize any noise nuisance, which is why we have applied to extend the construction and dismantling by one day at each end to minimize work with heavy equipment after 22:00 at the homes closest to the track, i.e. Hvidkildevej and Hulgårdsvej.
However, work will take place at these locations overnight between Sunday, August 10, 2025 and Monday, August 11, 2025 in order to open the major roads before the rush hour at 05:00.
During the event itself, all participating cars must meet the noise requirements of the Danish Automobile Sports Union (DASU) and for this purpose, Technical Control will select the participating cars for noise measurement in a specially designated area. Participating cars that do not meet the noise requirements will be excluded.
Regarding noise measurement during the event itself, TMF states as follows:
"In 2017, the administration has measured the noise exposure during the race to be approximately 95 dB. On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the administration measured the background noise on a normal weekday. The measurement was taken between 12:00 and 13:30 at three observation points on the route. The measurements show a noise level between 65 dB(A) and 70 dB(A) with a calculated daily average noise between 61 dB and 73 dB. The results are subject to a great deal of uncertainty, as the noise is assumed to be dependent on the traffic load. A measurement during rush hour will give a result that is estimated to be up to 10 dB(A) higher."*
Going forward, i.e. from 2018, motorcycles will not participate, as in 2017 these, among others, were closest to the upper noise limit set.
The City of Copenhagen has also ordered CHGP to take noise measurements continuously during the event to ensure that any cars exceeding the noise limit are removed from the race.
On its own initiative, CHGP has applied for and received approval from the City of Copenhagen to install so-called noise mats, known from the Metro construction, along houses on Hvidkildevej.
Finally, it should also be mentioned that the roads will remain closed to traffic between approximately 7pm and 8am the next morning Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday, so the noise level is significantly lower than usual.
However, compared to regular weekday traffic, the historic cars drive significantly less. All in all, the historic cars drive a total of approximately 11,500 km on a race day (16 heats with 25 cars driving 12 laps of 2.4 km). In comparison, there are approximately 40,000 cars on Borups Allé on a weekday between 7am and 7pm, and approximately 20,000 cars on Hulgårdsvej. This corresponds to cars driving a total of around 60,000 km in the area around Bellahøj on a weekday (approx. 1 km per car per road). This is about 5 times as many kilometers driven as during the race weekend.

Air pollution
Apart from the fact that there are no vehicles on the track between approximately 7 pm and 8 am the next morning during the race weekend, TMF assesses that the air pollution is no different from a normal weekday:
"The administration still estimates that the total air pollution in the area is the same as that emitted by normal traffic."
